Starting off with socials

Building off of our research

Researching the social media accounts of different films within our genre gave us the inspiration to create one of our own. We decided to use Instagram as our tool since this coincides with our target audience. Our film is going to be named Shutter and is aimed towards young adults (high school students to early twenties). Our movie is also paired with the tagline "eclipsed memories." We launched our page with the account name "shutterthemovie" so audiences know right away what our account is promoting.

We might be changing the profile picture as we just put this one as a sort of filler until we fall onto a more definite one. For the bio, we made sure to include our production company, RA, and when and where it will be available. We wanted to distribute the film onto streaming services rather than theaters due to our target audience favoring those platforms more. "Eclipsed memories" will be a big part of our campaign strategy in promoting Shutter. We made sure to follow various films similar to ours such as Everything Everywhere All at Once and Don't Look Up

HERE is the link to access our Instagram account. After doing continued research on the feeds I looked at in my last post, I knew I wanted to post something to kick off the account. Everything Everywhere took this approach in the early stages of their social media presence, so Abby and I used this as inspiration.

This was their first post when they first started their account. Of course, they included the googly eyes like I talked about in my last post. I really wanted to do something similar in order to get our product out there and get a jump on this project. In order to keep up with the social media posts, we are going to release around 4 stories/feed posts a week. Once we start posting more and the production process begins, we will make a few highlights to showcase on our feed. I have an idea where we have a different highlight for each character in the trailers and show behind-the-scenes content of each. For now, we are focusing on the posts for this week.

Here is our first official post! We made it on Canva and are very excited about it.  It is a video with background audio of a camera clicking but the video won't upload to my blog. You are able to view it by going to our Instagram. For the caption, I want to take an approach similar to what Arrival did for their captions where they took a different tag line and made it the caption of each of their earlier posts introducing the movie. For this one, we used "unlock your past."

I'm really excited about the social media aspect of this project because we have so much creativity with it. I also think going off of other movies in this genre is the way to go since we can use it in order to be the most successful.

Check back later this week for more on the pre-production of Shutter!
